Block Search Indexing with "noindex" metatag

Learn how to prevent pages from appearing in search results through the SEO Optimizer app.

Updated over a week ago

Prevent specific pages from appearing in search results by incorporating a 'noindex' meta tag into the HTML of the respective page. When Googlebot and other search engine robots crawl your page next, they will recognize the meta tag and exclude the page entirely from search results.

Adding a 'noindex' Meta Tag to a Page

With SEO Optimizer, the process of adding a 'noindex' meta tag is straightforward. Here's how you can do it for any of your pages in SEO Audits:

  1. From the SEO Optimizer dashboard, navigate to SEO Audits and choose the page you want to prevent from showing up in search results.

  2. Below your Target Keyword Phrase, tick the box that says: 'Block Search indexing with 'noindex' metatag.'

  3. Save your changes.

  4. The 'noindex' meta tag is now embedded directly into the HTML of your page within our app's code.

  5. To remove the meta tag at any time, simply uncheck the box and save your changes.

๐Ÿ’กNote: You can verify the tag's addition by inspecting the page's source code. Google provides a guide on viewing page source code, and our own guide details checking SEO Optimizer's code.
